When I work with mamas, one of the topics that very often comes up is:

“I have been dedicated to my family for so long that I don’t know who I am anymore…”

As a mama, we give our all to our little ones. We juggle work, raising up the kids, housework, other family commitments…

We do the equivalent of 3 full time jobs with no breaks and running on very little sleep.

We get caught in the busyness of every day life and our priorities change completely, so we abandon…

– The projects we were working on before becoming a mum.

– The hobbies we enjoyed.

– The self-care.

– Our purpose.

– Our big dreams.

We forget that inside us, there is an incredible woman who had a big vision.

A woman who is capable of achieving anything she sets her mind to.

But just forgot to dedicate time to herslef.

Mama, that woman IS inside of you.

All her talents and skills are there, just waiting for you to give them a bit of space.

To be nurtured like flowers need water and sun to grow.

Maybe there are other parts of you that are very loud at the moment.

The “I can’t get anything right”, “I’m a failure”, “I’m not good enough”, “Success will never happen for me” or other similar ones.

That is not who you are. Those are just parts of you that carry pain and limiting beliefs that were formed to survive, not to thrive.

Hhere is the step by step process to step into your most authentic self:

1. Idenitify the loud parts of you that carry disempowering self-talk.

Ask yourself:

What are they trying to protect me from?

When did I start believing that about myself?

How are these beliefs impacting my life now?

What does this part of me need to change rewrite this self-talk into more empowering beliefs?

This will require some inner dialogues with different younger parts of you that were probably hurt or went through stressful or traumatic experiences.

Approach it with love and compassion, like you would treat a little child.

2. Once you heal the wounded parts of you, there will be space to allow the parts of you that carry your talents and uniqueness to flourish.

Ask yourself:

What did I love doing as a child?

What could I do for hours without getting bored?

What are my values? What makes me unique?

What are the talents that I came here to share with the world?

What is my big dream?

If I had no limitations, who could I become?

If I had all the money in the world, what would I be doing?

3. Nurture these parts of you like you taking care of the plant.

If you close your eyes and tune into the confident, joyful, talented parts of you, they often look like a luminous, elevated version of you.

THAT IS WHO YOU TRULY ARE.

Take a few minutes every day to check in with them.

What advice do they have for you?

Can you embody their energy, their qualities?

Can you connect with the positive emotions they bring?

It is that simple. Not easy, as very often there is a resistance from the wounded inner child, but with the right guidance and tools, you can make it a very beautiful and empowering journey to healing and personal transformation.

I wrote an e-book, What Mama Needs To Heal, where I explain this process in much more detail and it is packed with practical tools and exercises for healing, emotional well-being and personal transformation.
